ABOUT US

The Tourist Guiding department, which was opened under the Department of Travel, Tourism and Entertainment Services of Iğdır Vocational School, is an associate degree program opened in the 2016-2017 Academic Year and started accepting students with a quota of 40 students in the same period. Our program consists of academicians who are experts in their fields and courses are conducted with applied projects. The aim of the tourist guiding program is to provide quality education services and to train qualified tourist guides for the tourism industry. For this purpose, it is aimed to train tourist guides who have detailed information about Turkish tourism, know the history, culture and nature of Turkey well, have a good command of a foreign language, are tolerant, hardworking, self-confident and can provide the best service to local and foreign tourists.

The language of the program is Turkish. Students who successfully complete all courses in the program (equivalent to a total of 120 ECTS) and obtain a weighted grade point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 are awarded an associate degree in Tourist Guiding.

Conditions Required to Graduate from the Program

In order for our students to graduate at the end of the education-training process, they must fulfill the requirements in the Iğdır University Undergraduate - Associate Degree Education-Teaching and Examination Regulation.

​Students who graduate from the program can obtain a Tourist Guide License and a work card by becoming a member of any of the professional chambers by successfully passing a foreign language exam to be conducted under the supervision and control of the Ministry or to be conducted by specialized public institutions or organizations in one of the foreign languages ​​determined by the joint recommendations of the unions and the Association of Turkish Travel Agencies and with the approval of the Ministry, or by possessing one of the foreign language proficiency certificates determined by the regulation, and by completing a national or regional tourist guide tour organized by the unions under the supervision and control of the Ministry.


Transition to Advanced Programs: Candidates who successfully complete their associate degree education can vertically transfer to undergraduate programs related to their fields, provided that they pass the DGS (Vertical Transfer Exam).
